Jogging....WHAT Have I Gotten Myself Into???

Heather and her dance team mates have to run 3 miles a week as part of their exercise regimen. She usually runs laps after dance practice on nights she doesn't have band practice. I mentioned to her that I miss running and wish I could run with her. So, she talked to her teacher and was given permission to run some of the laps at another location with me as long as I log how far she ran. So this week she saved some laps to run with me Saturday morning. When I asked her how far she had to run Saturday her response was "2 miles." Gulp! My first reaction was, "she's gonna KILL me." I haven't run 2 miles since I was a distance runner in 8th grade. Back then running 2 and even 3 miles every day was no sweat. But that was 23 years ago!!! I am so not in shape to run anymore. Saturday morning was a pretty nice morning and we got up and got ready to go running. We drove into town to run on a track there. Neither of us was up to running the whole 2 miles so we did quite a bit of walking too. But we completed the 2 whole miles.

Running Shoes.....................................................$60
Water Bottles.......................................................$ 2
Walking/Jogging 2 Miles....................................screaming calves, stitched sides, chest pains
Spending the Morning With my Daughter......................priceless

After our 2 miles were complete we headed home. Just before we turned into the driveway I decided the morning was too nice and our moods too good to go home just yet. We just kept driving, talking and listening to great tunes.

I stopped only once to take a picture of a scene that caught my eye. Her response? "What are you stopping for?" She then watches as I pull out my camera and said, "What are you going to take a picture of? Everything's UGLY here." This is what I stopped for: Her response reminded me of the responses Mom, my sister Regina and I got from a neighbor concerning our subjects for painting when I was in high school. My sister and I got off the bus every Tuesday evening at our Sunday School teacher's house for painting lessons. Most of our paintings were scenes of old trucks, old barns with rusted tin, old churches, etc. The neighbor could never see the beauty in old things and couldn't figure out why we didn't paint pictures of anything new.

After returning home to drop Heather off I then joined my friend Pat at the local crafts store for a card making class using peg stamps. I have my work cut out for me working with my stamps, but it was a fun afternoon and I learned some new techniques. I don't know that I'll be making many cards with the new techniques, but I plan to use some of them on some scrapbook pages. Here are the cards I made today.
