Etsy

I've been painting again! From time to time I have made a little extra money from painting projects, but most of my past projects have ended up as gifts. It's been a couple of years since I've painted anything (other than walls!) and it feels good to be creating again.

My friend Elizabeth introduced me to Etsy! I had never even heard of it before, but Etsy is an online marketplace designed to sell hand made items of all kinds. It appears to work much like ebay, but without the bidding. I decided to create my own Etsy profile and page for my paintings and see if I can sell any of the items I paint. I decided it can't hurt and it does not cost much at all to list the items! Setting up the site is free and easy! First I had to create a profile name. That was easy. I decided since my photos are known as "photos by Tammy," my profile for etsy can be "Painted by Tammy." So, to find my page, simply type in www.paintedbytammy.etsy.com or simply click here to be redirected.

Here are the latest items I have been working on, and are now listed on my etsy page...with the exception of the snowman window painting. He's already been sold and will be soon on his way to Arizona!

I ♥ Faces: Blue Photo Challenge

This week's contest over at I ♥ Faces was a little more challenging for me to find a photo to contribute. Many times as soon as I read what the new challenge is, I immediately have a photo in mind. Not this time...but as I opened my pictures folder to scroll through them I remembered I had some portraits of Joseph that were a stunning blue and decided to use one of those.

Homecoming Pep Rally

As the rain poured down yesterday I was sure the Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally would be cancelled. My daughter called late in the day to say it still wasn't being cancelled, but that there was talk of cancelling the parade and moving the pep rally inside, into the gym. The parade was scheduled to begin at 7 pm and at 6:15 the rain was still coming down pretty hard out here where we live. Heather called and said it still wasn't cancelled so into town we drove wondering just how drenched we'd get!

When we arrived at our usual spot to watch the parade the rain had slowed to barely a drizzle. Yay! By the time it began we'd feel a sprinkle now and then but that was all. The parade was very short due to several groups deciding not to participate because of the weather.

"Pepe" the school mascot...aka Heather's friend Ryan...rode by on the cheerleaders' float.

At the end of the parade our group walked over to the stadium to watch the pep rally...in a very wet stadium! We had not even considered bringing anything to sit on, that the seats would be wet! Oh well, we'd just look like all the other Matador fans and have wet backsides!

Pepe again!

The dance team put on a great show! Heather is in the middle (50 yard line), 2nd girl back.

Heather "owning" that 50 yard line she loves so much!

Skywatch Friday

God sure gave us some pretty clouds to look at last Sunday night! I'm told there was an awesome rainbow that evening as well but somehow I missed that!

No Football???

This is an "open" week for us, which means
no football game Friday night.

After Heather and the other debutantes were through at the Mid Texas Symphony Concert last Sunday evening, we noticed how gorgeous the sky was. We decided to go over to the high school to capture some photos of it. I have some favorite photos of an awesome sky behind the football stadium so I thought I'd capture some new ones.

This is what the stadium will look like this week: empty.

But, the following week will be
HOMECOMING!!!
So be sure to stay tuned.
In the mean time...what ever shall we do with our Friday night???
I know!!!
We'll go CAMPING!!!
See you on Sunday!!!

Introducing...The Mid Texas Symphony Debutantes!

The Mid Texas Symphony Debutantes were officially introduced after intermission of the symphony's first concert yesterday evening. The girls all did a fabulous job ushering and preparing for the concert. Good job girls!

I discovered I really like the sounds of the symphony music. I loved the sounds of the stringed instruments!

I was also asked if I'd snap a photo of the 2 maestros so it could be sent to the newspaper. This was their fun pose. I'll send the more formal pose on to be included with the Mid Texas Symphony's newspaper article.

Friday Night LIghts: Matadors vs. Hornets

Friday evening found us San Antonio-bound...in the rain. There were murmurs in our group of staying home from the game and staying dry, but on we trekked. And we're so glad we did! Once the game began the rain stopped!

Although for much of the game I was sure the East Central Hornets were going to sting us good... at the bottom of the 3rd quarter our Matadors fought back and won the game 31-21! Woo hoo!

During the halftime show my daughter marched with the band, playing her mellophone...

...and then she joined the dance team to perform the kick routine:

There was lots of kicking,

even some stunting...

and even more kicking!

Heather is usually found right on the 50 yard line! I love that whether in band or dance I can usually find her easily!
