Senior Night

Friday night was the last home football game. Prior to the game all the senior band members, cheerleaders, dance team members, flag runners, and color guard members were presented by their parents on the football field.


Here we are presenting Heather. Band boosters gave her a yellow rose, and the dance team gave me a yellow corsage. Now..on to explain why my family is dressed as convicts....

Senior night is also "Bob and Sue" night in which the dance team girls perform a dance routine with their dads or substitute dads at half time. This year the band played "Ladies Night" while the Bobs and Sues danced. The dancers were told to choose anything to wear that was black and white. Some chose more formal attire and some chose to be funny. My family...and one other couple...chose to dress as convicts. They were definitely easy to spot on the field!

Gotta love how my husband is gettin' down in this one!!! Do you suppose this is why Marty was awarded Bob dancer of the week??

What a fun tradition to look forward to each year! This was the last Bob and Sue dance for Marty and Heather and I'm so glad Marty participated with her every year she was on the dance team. Go Bobs!!!

Each year the dance team performs a special routine during half time of the final home football game. The routine is always known as "Bob and Sue." Most dancers invite their fathers to perform with them, but in some cases when dads aren't available substitute "Bobs" are invited, such as friends, brothers, boyfriends, etc. Marty danced with Heather as her "Bob" and my father in law Freddie stood in as a substitute Bob for another dancer whose father was unavailable. Freddie even recieved a special "Most Dedicated Bob" award! Go Freddie!



Each year's Bob and Sue dance has a different theme. Last year's theme was Disco and that was a riot! This year the theme was latin. My aunt ordered Heather's costume as a special gift to her. Thank you Nana! Heather loves it!!!

Yay, the Matadors finally won a game!!!! We ended this year's football season on a happy note with a win against the San Marcos Rattlers! Woo Hoo!

Boogie Nights....Let's Disco!

Tonight was the final football game of the season for the Matadors. They lost their game, but it was still an exciting night. As is the annual tradition of the dance team, the final home football game's halftime show consisted of the "Bob and Sue Dance." Bob and Sue is a performance of the dance team girls and their fathers, or a stand-in Bob if a father is unavailable. Prizes were awarded to the best dressed couple, the most spirited Bob, etc. Heather tried to convince her teacher she needed to give Marty a "Complainer Bob" award because of Marty's lack of enthusiasm for the dance the past 2 weeks. But tonight Marty was a great sport and I think he enjoyed himself despite his misgivings! This year's Bob and Sue dance was "Disco Inferno." Most of the dads really got into the swing of things and seemed to be enjoying themselves! The fans sure got a kick out of the show!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUZANNE!

The Things Daddys do for their Daughters!

Every year during half time of the final home football game, the dance team girls perform a dance with their dads. Practice began today for this year's number. Marty was a great sport and agreed to dance with Heather. We've been teasing him about this since she began dancing on the drill team last year. This year's dance is a disco number! Those of you who know Marty know how funny this is going to be! It was fun to watch these dads from all walks of life disco for their daughters. There were "country boys," a harley dad, a teacher...you name it. I got the biggest kick out of watching my friend Krystal's husband Walter during practice today. He's a cheerleading dad but was asked by one of the dancers to step in and be her "Bob" for the "Bob and Sue" dance. Walter was really getting with it and cracking us all up! One of the girls, Cleary, is injured and wasn't able to practice so she sat and chatted with me while I took pictures. She decided Marty looks like a giant 12 year old!







I'm trying to picture all these girls and their dads in their disco costumes! Be watching for that post on November 9, when they'll be performing during the half time show! What fun that's going to be! The song they're dancing to is "Disco Inferno." And the line from the song that keeps playing in my head is, "burn, baby, burn!"







Now....where to find 70's clothing for Marty and Heather.....and how to convince Marty to WEAR it????
